Legal

Before you read this: Yesterself has not shipped yet. These terms are published now, in advance, so that anyone deciding whether to wait for the app can read exactly what they would be agreeing to before installing anything. They take effect on the version 1.0 release date printed below.

Yesterself Terms of Use

Version 1.1 · Effective 14 December 2026 · This is the agreement between you and us. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

The short version

Yesterself is a journal that runs on your phone. You own everything you write. Yesterself Post is an optional subscription, billed by Apple or Google, that adds sealed sync and a few features; it never renews without telling you first, it never takes a card for the trial, and cancelling is one tap in your store account. Export is free on every tier, forever. If you lose your twelve-word recovery phrase, nobody — including us — can open your sealed copies again. That last sentence is the whole reason this document is not Apple's standard one.

Who this agreement is with

These terms are between you and the company named at https://yesterself.khreshitech.solutions/legal.html, which publishes Yesterself. By installing or using the app you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the app; nothing you have already written is affected either way, and export stays available.

What you own

Everything you write in Yesterself is yours. We claim no licence over it, no right to publish it, no right to train anything on it, and no right to read it. We could not exercise such a right if we wanted to: your letters are encrypted on your device with a key we never receive.

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control. You may not resell it, sublicense it, or reverse-engineer the parts of it we have not already published — and we have published the sync server, so most of that sentence has already been answered by us rather than by lawyers.

The recovery phrase, and what it costs

Your account is a key, not a login. There is no email address, no password, and no "forgot password" link, because there is nobody on our side who could verify you. When you turn on sync, your phone shows you twelve words. Those words reconstruct your key.

If you lose the twelve words and lose every device that holds the key, your sealed copies on our server become permanently unreadable. We cannot recover them. We cannot reset them. No court order, no support ticket and no payment can change this, because the design removes our ability rather than our willingness.

This is the price of a journal we cannot read, and we would rather charge it in this paragraph than surprise you with it later. Write the words down on paper and keep them somewhere you keep important things.

Yesterself Post — the subscription terms

Yesterself Post is an optional auto-renewing subscription. It is sold in two lengths, and there is a third, one-time product. No weekly plan exists, in any storefront, ever.

Payment is charged to your Apple or Google account at confirmation of purchase. A subscription renews automatically at the same price for the same length unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. The exact renewal date and price are shown next to the button before you buy, and again in Settings afterwards.

You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple or Google account settings at any time; the app deep-links straight there and puts nothing in front of it. Cancelling stops the next renewal and leaves the current period running to its end. We will remind you before a renewal, because billing must never surprise anyone.

The 21-day trial is granted by the app, not by the store. It takes no card and no payment method, and it converts into nothing: on day 21 the app asks you to decide, and if you do nothing you simply return to the free tier. Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when a subscription is purchased, where a storefront offers a free trial through the store itself.

Refunds

Purchases are processed by Apple and Google, so refunds are theirs to give. On iOS the app links you straight to Apple's report-a-problem page. On Android, refunds are requested through Google Play. Where consumer law in your country gives you a right of withdrawal or a statutory refund, that right applies and nothing here limits it.

What stays free, forever

The journal, the morning mail, capsules, the days-recorded counter, the widget, import, and export are free on every tier. Export is free forever, with no cooldown and no watermark, and it stays free if you cancel, if you lapse, and if we stop selling subscriptions. Your archive is never held hostage. This is a term of this agreement and not a marketing sentence.

Your content and acceptable use

You are responsible for what you write. Because the content is encrypted on your device and we hold only sealed bytes, we do not moderate it, cannot moderate it, and will not pretend otherwise. Do not use Yesterself to do something illegal, and do not attempt to attack, overload or probe our server beyond what our published vulnerability disclosure policy invites.

Age

Yesterself is not directed to children under 13, or under 16 where local law sets that age. If you are below the age of digital consent where you live, do not use the app.

Ending it

You may stop using Yesterself at any time. Delete the app and your journal goes with it, unless you exported it first — which you should. If you use sync, Settings then Advanced then Delete server data erases our copy immediately and irreversibly, and it does not touch your phone.

We may end this agreement if you materially breach it, or if we stop publishing the app. If we ever shut the service down, we will say so in the app and by every other channel we have, and export will keep working.

What we do not promise

The app is provided as it is. To the fullest extent the law where you live allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses. Nothing in this section limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited — and if you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected by anything written here.

Two specific limits, stated plainly rather than buried: we do not promise that any feature which runs on your device will produce a particular result, and we cannot promise to recover data whose key we do not hold.

If you installed from the App Store

This agreement is between you and us, not between you and Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it. If the app fails to conform to any warranty we are required to give, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim by you or a third party relating to the app, including product liability, legal or regulatory non-compliance, and consumer protection claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this agreement and may enforce it against you. You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as terrorist-supporting, and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

Changes to these terms

If we change anything that matters, we will raise the version number and show a notice in the app before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the app after a change takes effect means you accept it. If you do not, export your archive and stop — that door is deliberately kept open.

Privacy

What we collect, and what we cannot see, is set out in the privacy policy, which forms part of this agreement. It says, among other things, that until you start a trial, subscribe or turn on sync, the app never contacts our servers at all.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of the place where the publisher named at https://yesterself.khreshitech.solutions/legal.html is established, without displacing any mandatory consumer protection you have where you live, and without taking away your right to bring proceedings in your local courts where the law gives you one.

Talking to us

Write to hello@khreshitech.solutions for anything about your account, a purchase, or your data. It is one mailbox, and a human reads it. The app itself never sends email and never asks for your address.

This page is the published copy of the Terms of Use bundled inside the app. The app renders the same text offline from assets/legal/terms-of-use.txt, and the two are checked against each other on every build (g_policy_in_app): a sentence cannot change here without changing there. The privacy policy forms part of this agreement.
